RELIGIOUS SCHOOL WITH LIBRARY

RELIGIOUS SCHOOL WITH LIBRARY

This project is an inspiration from the analogy of how trees absorb earth nutrients to survive and students absorb the knowledge of textbook to learn. The Church school is located in the heart of Japan town, a neighborhood surrounded with various religious institutions. The building absorbs the surrounding views from different angles through the strategically placed windows. The site becomes an interactive area to gather all visitors from the different churches in the neighborhood. Students study, absorb, and share here. The first floor is raised and becomes an extension of the opposite garden to attract local residents to gather here. People can take the elevators to the second floor, where they will find metal bridges connecting the interior to the exterior. When sunlight hits on these bridges their beautiful shadows resemble leaves on a tree. The steps on the second floor faces the Saint Mary's Cathedral, it leads the most architecturally renowned building into the school. People can sit or lie down to enjoy the beautiful view.
